Starting the Certification Process in Arkansas

Christian Institute (CI) is approved by ASACB (Arkansas Substance Abuse Certifying Board).  The Arkansas Certification Board is approved by the IC&RC to certify candidates as certified counselors to work in the field of drug and alcohol counseling. 

Because Christian Institute is approved with ASACB, this means that you don’t have to worry if the courses you take will count towards your certification. Christian Institute offers the required courses needed for the Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

Statement of Purpose

The Alcohol Drug Counselor credential upgrades and standardizes qualifications of those working in the field of chemical dependency counseling. The following ADC credentialing guidelines have been developed by the Arkansas Substance Abuse Certification Board (ASACB). The primary purpose of the credential is to raise the standards of education and experience levels so that individual counselors with exceptional experience or education and experience can be duly recognized by their peers and professional organizations, statewide and nationally.

Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (AADC) Certification Requirements in Arkansas

If you're seeking to earn the Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (AADC) credential in Arkansas, the following outlines the key requirements in terms of education, experience, and training as stipulated by the Arkansas Substance Abuse Certification Board (ASACB). This credential is for professionals who have already obtained a Master's-level degree in a behavioral science field and are seeking to specialize in alcohol and drug counseling.

The Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor credential upgrades and standardizes qualifications of those working in the field of addiction counseling. The following AADC credentialing guidelines have been developed by the Arkansas Substance Abuse Certifying Board (ASACB). The AADC credential will separate those counselors who are content with a status quo existence from those who continue to achieve a higher level of excellence within the addiction profession. A counselor’s “level of expertise” can now be clearly defined.
