There are various certifications to help persons dealing with addiction. The main ones are Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor, Certified Prevention Specialist and Peer Support Specialist. Regulating these certifications is a state’s certification board, and most states have certification boards that adhere to the requirements of IC&RC (International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium). In this manner, there is consistency across the field of drug and alcohol counseling certification. California

Christian Institute (CI) is approved both by CCAPP (California Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors) and CADTP (California Association of DUI Treatment Programs). Both certifying bodies are approved with California Department of Health Services (DHCS) to certify candidates as certified counselors to work in treatment programs.

Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ADC) & Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (AADC)

Christian Institute (CI) is approved by ASACB (Arkansas Substance Abuse Certification Board) to offer online courses for individuals working on becoming certified ADC.

Master's Level Certified Addiction Professional (MCAP) & Certified Addiction Professional (CAP)

Christian Institute (CI) offers online training for the seven courses to qualify for the written exam to become a certified CAP Through FCB.

Christian Institute (CI) is approved by NCASPPB (North Carolina Addictions Specialist Professional Practice Board).  The NCASPPB is approved by the IC&RC to certify candidates as certified counselors to work in the field of drug and alcohol counseling.

Tennessee

The Tennessee Certification Board is approved by the IC&RC to certify candidates as certified counselors to work in the field of drug and alcohol counseling.
