To Know You Means to Not Know Me

Seeking You, Lord, means to give up my identity. To know You means to not know me. So much of the philosophy of the world is to get to know oneself. It is to know what makes one happy, what makes one feel good. I realize that I was shaped in a deceitful philosophy of pleasing myself. I was separated from all manners of discipline. Therefore, I sought my wisdom.

My wisdom, of course, was to seek to glorify me by establishing my way as being the right and only way. I began living that I was my own god. I abhorred the presence of any other type of instruction in my life. The only instruction for me was if it had originated in my own mind and was good to satisfy my sinful desires. I realize now how foolish I was in seeking my own desires.

I Want to Have Your Word in My Life

Have mercy on me, Lord.

I want to seek You, Lord. I want to find Your profoundness. I want to have Your Word in my life. I want to submit my life to Your Spirit. I want to find Your Spirit present in every moment of my life. I pray for Your Spirit.

I ask for You to fill me so that I don’t have a spot of my own desires in my life. I want to have only Your Spirit to rely on for all my existence. Let me know no other way. I rebuke all parts of me. I deny me. I cast my desires, my will away.

I accept Your Spirit and rebuke mine. I ask that I can control my mind so that I only know You. Give me strength to only know You.

I Must Trust in You, Lord

Lord, I realize that I must trust in You to take care of every minute thing in my life. I realize that I must not, by any infinitesimal way, try to trust on my own strength. I realize that as I trust in You for all my existence I will be more than satisfied. I must learn to realize that I am vain with my strength. I must realize that I can do absolutely nothing of substance with my own strength. I ask, Lord, that You inspire me with the desire to only trust You.

If there occurs a time when I might be leaning towards trusting in my strength, reveal it to me and give me the inspiration to shun it. I call upon You for my life. Let me know nothing else but You, Lord, I pray.

Let My Antenna Always be Ready to Hear You

O Lord, let me have an ear for You.

I attentively listen for Your direction. Let me bow my ear to Your Way. Let me hear You through Your Word, my prayer to You, circumstances You put in my life, others with whom I interact, and whatever other way You choose.

I want to be responsive to You. Please open my understanding so that I can listen to You. Let me know when You are directing me. Let me put all other things aside and be attentive to You.

Let me have my antenna always up and tuned to hear You
