 O Lord,
I want to thank You for allowing me to get closer to You. I realize that if it were according to my will, I would be involved in things that would actually pull me further from You, although I would be thinking that the involvement is good for me. It would be good for my flesh, not the goodness that comes from getting close to You. I have realized that those things that I typically deem right for me are usually a trap to snare me into the grips of destruction. O Lord, thanks for giving me the realization of traps that are ready to snare me up. I thank You for the strength I have for wanting to get closer to You. I stated that I earnestly want to get closer to You. I must recognize that You are honoring my prayer by creating circumstances where I learn to reverence and acknowledge You more in my life. I have realized that I must not focus on the process but the impact and outcome.

I need your help, Lord. I feel like I’m being caught up in something that makes me feel bitter. The way I feel is discouragement. I am not satisfied with working at night. I have lost the fire that I previously had. I will pray and wait until next week to see how I feel. I am tired now. Lord, I am asking You to renew my strength or please give me something else so that I can provide for my family. Let me get closer to You.
O Lord, I realize that my life is only a mist. I realize that it can be gone in a twinkling of an eye. In having this knowledge, I wonder, then, why so much emphasis is put on living in this world as if it will be everlasting on earth. I wonder why so many status symbols have evolved so that a person may become proud. I wonder why people search to do and have things that only put them in bondage. The spirit of the world captures a person so that he is living under its oppression. This oppression is so stealthy because the person hardly ever realizes that it exists. Because he is so caught up in living according to the standards of the world, he doesn’t realize that he is even trapped. The standards of the world are very seductive. Once they grab you, they don’t want to let go. They mesmerize the person with such magnitude so that the person does not realize what is actually happening.
I have realized that each status symbol derives its significance from the lust of the flesh and eyes, and the pride of life. I understand from Your Word that I must not be desirous of sin. Status symbols are sin. |
