MEDITATIONS AND BIBLE STUDIES

Business is a Stumbling Block

Dear Lord,

I recognize that I am very vulnerable at all times.  I can stumble easily to the wickedness, deception and weight of sin.  I realize that anything that separates me from seeking You is sin.  I realize, now, that the deception is “business”:  The act of continually doing things; being busy.  Because of staying busy, one loses the sight and yearning for You.  This “business” becomes sin because it acts as an obstacle to getting closer to You.  If I am to remain close and get closer to You, I must either not be involved in “business” of be involved on the periphery and have strict guidelines on devotion to You.

Thank You, Lord, for revealing this deception of “business” to me.  I realize, now, that I seek to be more involved in “business,” I am actually seeking to get farther from You.

O Lord, have mercy on me.

We are all vulnerable. "But in all things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us."(Roman 8:37)
Perhaps the writer of this article was focusing on business or chasing the dollar and neglecting to chase after God as the primary source for all things needed in this life.
Business can be deceptive for sure. As we busy our minds with meetings, phone calls, emails, text messages, and all the particulars of running business in order to profit because our livelihood and perhaps the wellbeing of our dependents are counting on us to make the right decisions to make this happen.
Then the business of being busy is not the ROOT of the problem.
As stated in the article, the writer must "either" not be involved in business or have a strict guideline for devotion to God.
The problem then becomes "choice." We can choose to neglect God and our devotion to Him. We chose to busy ourselves, and we do things on our own without God's guidance and direction.
On the other hand, if we apply God's Word to our lives and we realize, as in Psalm 119:147, "I rise before the dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in Your Word," and we understand that without Jesus Christ we can do nothing, as the Apostle John states in John 15:5, "I am the Vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."
So rise early and seek God.
It is a matter of overcoming the flesh or carnality; business is not our problem. Choices are the problem, but also the solution.
Do this, and you will see great things that you have never seen before. You will see and experience the abundance of the mercy of Jesus Christ in your life, daily.
