To Know You Means to Not Know Me

Seeking You, Lord, means to give up my identity.  To know You means to not know me.  So much of the philosophy of the world is to get to know oneself.  It is to know what makes one happy, what makes one feel good.  I realize that I was shaped in a deceitful philosophy of pleasing myself.  I was separated from all manners of discipline.  Therefore, I sought my wisdom. 

​My wisdom, of course, was to seek to glorify me by establishing my way as being the right and only way.  I began living that I was my own god.  I abhorred the presence of any other type of instruction in my life.  The only instruction for me was if it had originated in my own mind and was good to satisfy my sinful desires.  I realize now how foolish I was in seeking my own desires.  ​
