Christian Institute (CI) is approved both by CCAPP (California Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors) and CADTP (California Association of DUI Treatment Programs). Both certifying bodies are approved with California Department of Health Services (DHCS) to certify candidates as certified counselors to work in treatment programs.

Christian Institute's 80 Hour Core Competency Course is approved by CCAPP and CADTP.  It provides the essential training required under AB 2473 (see section titled background for more info) for new SUD Counselor registrants.  This course builds the foundational skills needed to begin your careers as a Registered Alcohol and Drug Trainee I (RADT-1) or a Substance Use Disorder Registered Counselor (SUDRC-I).  Students must complete this 80 hour core competency course in the first 6 months of registration with CCAPP or CADTP.  For more information on this course, click here.

What is a RADT-1?
​
The Registered Alcohol and Drug Technician I (RADT-I) is an entry-level credential in California for individuals beginning a career in substance use disorder counseling. It allows trainees to gain supervised experience while completing required education toward full certification. To become registered, applicants must complete the orientation course, submit an application through CCAPP, and renew annually. RADT-I is the first step toward becoming a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC).  For more information on this course, click here.
